Space Florida Means Business
As a key function of Space Florida, Business Development is focused on the strategies and tools that will attract, retain, and create new business ventures in Florida. Space Florida's ultimate objectives include capturing a larger share of the emerging global market in aerospace research, technology, manufacturing, and commercial operations, while maintaining its historical leadership in space launch activities.
Space Florida recently announced a teaming agreement with Bigelow Aerospace, LLC, an entrepreneurial space development company headquartered in Nevada, to explore and support the development of a new, orbital space transportation system located at the Kennedy Space Center.

Space Florida (and its predecessor organizations) has a rich and varied history of financially supporting projects that have positioned Florida as the leader in launch and aerospace business activities. Most recently, Space Florida committed $35 million to Lockheed-Martin for the refurbishment of the O&C (Operations and Checkout) Building modernizing it for the new Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV). This investment by the State of Florida, will lead to the employment of approximately 300 people who will perform non-traditional work to assemble and checkout the Orion Capsule.
