Balloon Launch
During the summer of 2007, a group of students participating in the Space Florida Academy released a scientific weather balloon from the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. During the course of their five day Academy, the students designed and assembled a special balloon payload comprising a live camera and GPS. As the balloon ascended to an approximate height of 100,000 feet (20 miles), the on-board camera captured a view of the curvature of the earth and the blackness of space.
