Purpose
The Operational Storage Facility (OSF) is located on Florida National Guard property west of St. Augustine at Camp Blanding, Florida and is owned and operated by Space Florida. The Florida National Guard provides operational support. The facility consists of four buildings totaling 80,000 square feet. This includes a 90-foot high bay with 200- and 125-ton cranes. Heavy rail access connects the facility to the CSX rail line. The OSF is sited for over five million pounds of solid propellant (i.e., Class 1.3C explosive). The facility was originally constructed in 1995 for storage of the US Air Force's Titan IVB solid rocket motor upgrade (SRMU) booster segments.
Current Status
The SRM OSF is currently leased to United Launch Alliance (ULA) for storage of Atlas V rocket motors.
The previous tenant, Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMC), operated and maintained the facility to the highest standards. When LMC departed, they transferred approximately $600K of spares and equipment (crane motors, HVAC spares, air pallet, railcars, etc.) and a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment to Space Florida. These assets are being made available to the current tenant.
