Launch Complex 47 (LC-47)

Activity:Launch Operations Support

Purpose/Scope:Space Florida has secured a Real Property License from the 45th Space Wing in order to operate and maintain Launch Complex 47 (LC-47). Space Florida will be sponsoring a number of Florida-based higher education academic institutions and businesses that will train future aerospace technicians, and conduct research in support of university aerospace programs, as well as research and development activities for potential DoD and NASA programs. These efforts will include processing and launch of the type of small rockets historically launched from LC-47.

Partners:45th Space Wing (45SW), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)/Office of Associate Administrator for Commercial Space Transportation (AST), Florida Space Institute (FSI), University of Central Florida (UCF), and Brevard Community College (BCC).

Customers:FSI, Delaware North, UCF, Bristol Aerospace, Inc., and assorted Florida academic institutions.

Current Status:Space Florida has assisted BCC and FSI in securing facilities on or near Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. SF is acting as the liaison between the customers listed above and the appropriate agencies within the 45 SW in support of any upcoming launch activity.
