Spaceport Operations

The Cape Canaveral Spaceport, and its launch facilities and ranges, are a national asset that uniquely provides stable and predictable access to space for users from all sectors.

Space Florida is working with Federal and State agencies to meet the growing demands being placed on the Eastern Range. To facilitate this objective, Space Florida recently developed the Customer Assistance Service Program for the Eastern Range (dubbed CASPER) to help refine range policies and regulatory processes that will blend the needs of military and civilian users with the economic realities of commerce.

As a FREE service of Space Florida, CASPER efficiently guides new commercial customers through the requirements and flight safety approval process at the Eastern Range.

Spaceport Operations Support

Additionally, Space Florida has built, owns, and/or operates several facilities that directly support spaceport operations. These include:

Major projects in the planning stages include:

  • Helping NASA develop the Shuttle Landing Facility for commercial use
  • Upgrading or building new launch facilities to support the Florida Space Transportation Initiative
