BASIC PURPOSE:

This job is responsible for performing research activities, analyzing due diligence material, supporting capital and innovation program initiatives, performing portfolio analysis, and financial planning for the Corporate Development & Capital Programs business unit at Space Florida.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES or TASKS:
  • Prepare and present market research/intelligence on Space Florida’s market verticals, including commercial space, aerospace/defense, unmanned systems, certain aspects of aviation (e.g., MRO, training/simulation), and related industries.
  • Prepare actionable industry and company reports for Space Florida executive management, corporate development, and capital programs team.
  • Review and analyze due diligence materials for various opportunities provided by target companies in addition to the publicly available information.  Prepare summaries for presentation to the business development team.
  • Assist the business development team with financial modeling of potential investment opportunities in Excel.
  • Prepare and present to SVP, Corporate Development & Capital Programs, business unit financial plan (budget and operational metrics), and analysis of performance against plan.  Coordinate interactions with accounting, contracts, and administration.
  • Coordinate, track, analyze and present to business unit management, project, and procurement activities with respect to Corporate Development & Capital Programs projects.
  • Coordinate interactions between Florida companies and foreign counterparts in support of partnership programs as assigned by management.
  • Develop and maintain financial partner dossiers/databases (lenders, venture capital, private equity) and maintain relevant contacts in the CRM system.
  • Develop and maintain key industry C-suite dossiers/databases and maintain relevant contacts in the CRM system.
  • Develop and maintain aerospace company dossiers/database and maintain relevant contacts in CRM system.
  • Maintains expertise in IMPLAN economic impact modeling package and performs return on investment (ROI), cost-benefit, and economic impact analysis on specific projects, and across Space Florida's investment portfolio.
  • Update, maintain and validate metrics of Space Florida investment portfolio database.
  • Provide occasional support for industry and trade events.
SUPERVISION:

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in performing research on defined industry sectors and companies within those sectors.
  • Knowledge in using public and proprietary databases for industry research (e.g., Bureau of Economic Analysis, Dun & Bradstreet, Hoovers, Lexis/Nexus, SEC/Edgar, PitchBook/Crunchbase).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate-level financial modeling skills in Excel.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Intermediate level competence with Salesforce CRM system.
  • Experience with IMPLAN economic impact modeling package.
