Florida Early Stage Capital Conference

There is no cost to apply! Apply and be considered to present at the 15th Annual Florida Early Stage Capital Conference on October 11-12, 2022 at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa. In addition, the Florida Venture Forum will be hosting the 13th Annual Statewide Collegiate Startup Competition.*
All early stage presenter applications are reviewed by an active group of investors. The co-host partner, Space Florida, will be providing a total of $100,000 in prize money. Four awards totaling $100,000 in cash will be presented at the conclusion of the Conference.

*Universities pay a modest application fee to help defray the cost to the Forum for hosting this annual collegiate event.

Company Selection Criteria:
1. Development Stage: The Forum seeks companies that are entering or in their commercialization phase. This phase of a company’s development cycle is normally characterized by the transformation of a technology and/or business concept into a viable commercial business enterprise. Typically investment funding at this stage is sought to finance expanded management staffing, company infrastructure, operations, and sales and marketing.
2. Management: Companies should have fully committed leadership whose primary focus is upon the development and growth of the business venture.
3. Business Planning: Companies should have completed the business planning process and have documents available for review by potential investors that fully describe the relevant market and financial aspects of the venture.
4. Equity Investment: The company should be ready for outside equity capital investment, to further the development of the business venture. The company’s development should have progressed to the point that potential investors can conduct reasonable due diligence and evaluate the investment opportunity on primarily business terms. Typically, companies at this stage of commercialization seek between $500,000 and $2,000,000 in a “Series A” investment round.

Preferred Industry Sectors for Space Florida Prize Consideration:

Presenting and showcasing companies must be engaged in market sectors that align with the strategic sectors of SF’s Aerospace & Aviation vision to qualify for the Accelerating Innovation award or prize money. All participating companies must be engaged in market sectors that align with the strategic sectors of SF, set forth in its Vision 2030. These sectors include, but not limited to: information technology, health-care technologies (including medical research and innovations), ISS and human life sciences, Artificial Intelligence, knowledge-based services and new products, satellite systems, communications and science payloads, ground and operations support systems, agriculture R&D, climate/environmental monitoring, civil protection, cyber security, adventure tourism, clean/alternative energy applications. In addition, aircraft and spacecraft design, parts and assembly, engineering design and construction, structural materials and electronic assembly, data analytics. Also, innovations in planetary sustainability towards the development of nutritious food, clean water and energy, robotics – parts, design and assembly, unmanned aerial vehicles, surveillance, 3D printing and innovations, advancements in augmented and virtual reality technology, radiation protection, space transportation and advanced aerospace platforms, reconnaissance, & missile development.
