Space Florida Statement on Successful Launch of Artemis I

EXPLORATION PARK, Fla.—Nov. 16, 2022—Space Florida, the state’s aerospace finance and development authority, issued the below statement on NASA’s successful launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion spacecraft for its Artemis I mission.

The below statement should be attributed to Frank DiBello, president and CEO of Space Florida:

“From the first American orbital launch to our nation’s first manned mission to the moon, Florida has been the ground node for successes in aerospace that are woven together by such historic moments. Today’s Artemis I launch from right here at the Cape will be added to history books and we want to congratulate our partners at NASA who brought us all to this momentous occasion.

“Moments like today are possible because of the commitment our state has made to being on the bleeding edge of innovation, ushering in the future of aerospace and creating an environment where challenges are turned into successes. From Mercury, Gemini, Apollo missions to shuttle launches to Artemis I and its new SLS megarocket, Florida has made the choice to be all in for space and bolster the foundation for a successful public and private aerospace industry.”
